Poem: Seize The Day
Don’t seize the day
Greet it like a butcher does the lamb to the slaughter
Lay it across your lap like mothers do bad children
Pat it down like T.S.A.
Don’t seize the day
Let it fall from your brows like sweat
Push against it like a body on a subway
Don’t seize the day,
but instead memorize it
Scream it from the mountain tops
Throw it out the window
Slide it under closed doors
Pass it on till you’re playing hot potato with your reflection
Liter the streets with it
Lay down beats with it
Pick at it like strawberries scabs and rose petals
Stop seizing the day
Stop trying to take things that were never meant to belong to you
Don’t you know someone has a plan for you?
Don’t you know someone longs for you?
He commands the sun to rise and the birds to sing songs for you
So stop seizing the day
No need to finish strong… just finish…
And it will all work out
I promise you
